The desert archipelago of Utsesh dwells beyond the cloud blanket that overhangs the fragmented world of Olan-Taa. Mainly composed of arid and lifeless sand wastelands, the islands of the realm are dominated by sumptuous buildings with elegant and imposing architecture.
Here, the devotees of Nupten - Ruler of Mind and Knowledge - embrace magic arts above other creatures' abilities and develop a complex, caste-based, society independent from natural resources.
The only energy the people of Utsesh need is Skytear in its purest form, and their desperate search for new sources inevitably leads them to challenge other Realms’ inhabitants to get the best supplies.
High priest and executioner of the Realm, Neshat takes care of Last Rites and guarantees a just end to the lives of faulty, evil, and impious subjects. In case of lesser crimes that have not caused too much dishonor to the people of Utsesh, the guilty is challenged directly to a fight to the death. As Neshat’s sword skills are unmatched in the whole Realm, the fight is clearly unequal, but this way allows the judged a dim hope to redeem themselves and find a glorious death.
Setheru is one of the few still living heirs of the ancient people of Nuptians - the first sentient creatures of Olan-Taa, now almost extinct, yet still treated with fear and respect by citizens of Utsesh. His obsession with gaining absolute control of Skytear led him to become a savant of magic, and makes him the perfect strategist and coordinator for the domination of Olan-Taa.
Also known as ‘Queen of the New People,’ Akhuti prefers to manifest to the lower classes to bring Nupten’s will to them directly, rather than give orders hidden inside the upper caste’s luxurious rooms like other officers of Utsesh. Showing her roots proudly, she is acclaimed by humbler classes as a tangible essence bound to the divine world. Beautiful and terrible, often her mere presence is enough to terrify every enemy and give new hope to Utsesh citizens.
A Nuptian heir of unknown origins, his history has never been traced. His knowledge of Skytear energy allows him to manipulate the fabric of reality, altering time and space for a limited period of time. Exploiting his peculiar nature to act as an assassin and annihilate those who hinder the inevitable expansion of Utsesh, he often leads Nupten forces during the most delicate operations.
Among the Champions of Nupten, Ekhrit is the youngest and the most inexperienced, but nonetheless skilled and powerful. She belongs to the noble caste of Architects and has directed the restoration and construction of the palaces of Utsesh since she was a child. Her skill to summon winds and magic streams to move objects around her - a peculiar gift of her caste that she learned to master - makes her a powerful tool during fights to get the best Skytear sources.
From her mirrored lair deep under Utsesh, Khenui leads the Echoed, an elite guild of illusion-weavers, dancers, and assassins. She uses this organisation to free slaves from cruelty, creating an army of her own which serves to scare the upper classes into complying with her demands. In these times of war, she fights against invaders, hoping to repel those who would threaten her freedom once more. Charismatic, smart, and evasive, Khenui sometimes feigns innocence, but her true lethal nature is ever lurking just below the surface.
